Versions and comparison method

Older settings are reconstructed where a historical renderer was not archived. An unchanged version is labeled rather than presented as a new sound. Matching RMS reduces loudness bias; spectrograms cannot establish realism or listener preference. Spectral violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet and sax reconstruct measured magnitudes. Viola/cello profiles come from ensembles.

All history plots share a −85 to −15 dB scale, 0–8 kHz range and eight-second duration. Vibrato settings are retained.
